1 - Control Tower Type 4 (B1017) - Page 2
We begin construction
by folding the main column walls. As they are quite narrow
we found it easier to make each fold against the edge of the
ruler.
One of the internal floors is glued to the inside of the walls.
We only used one of the internal floors, as that's enough
to make the walls rigid.
Glue is applied to the long tab and the walls glued together
to form a tube. It's important to make sure the tube isn't
twisted before the glue dries.
A long, flat stick is useful for pressing the tab into place
while the glue dries. We use an old chopstick for this. This
needs to be done at both ends.
The bottom cone is folded around and glued together.
This is what the bottom cone looks like when glued.
The upper cone is glued in a similar manner.
The
tabs on the internal collars are folded upwards slightly
and then the whole thing is folded into a ring shape.
We check the fit inside the ends of the column walls. They
fitted really nicely, but if necessary we might have needed
to trim it a little.
Glue is applied to the inside of one end of the column walls.
Then the internal collar is fitted inside the walls so that
the "petals" splay out.
